Despite teasing users with simple silhouettes on the Thermalright website , the Venomous-X CPU Cooler has been pictured completely naked.
Said to be the successor to the popular Ultra-120 Extreme the unit promises even better performance than the benchmark cooler of the past few years.
It looks nearly identical to the Ultra-120, but improves in a few key areas; boasting a nickel plated solid copper base, polished to a mirror finish. It dissipates heat through six nickel heatpipes leading into a dense aluminum fin array that supports up to two 120mm fans. The cooler is slightly larger at 125mm (L) x 63mm (W) x 160mm (H) but weighs a bit less at 755 grams.
The biggest change is in the mounting bracket that features a new pressure adjustable system, regarded as refreshingly easy to use. The “Pressure VaultBracket” allows for user adjusted force of 40lbs (standard of the Ultra-120) up to 70 lbs (18.1 to 31.75 kg) which is ideal for those wanting to ensure perfect contact and maximum cooling efficiency
Currently the cooler only supports Intel LGA775/1156/1366 sockets and includes Thermalright’s ChillFactor II thermal paste.
The cooler is expected to arrive soon ( possibly before Christmas ) however no pricing has been divulged though rumour reports $60 USD
