Since OCZ Technology acquired PC Power & Cooling we have not seen a new Silencer unit enter the market. Today however we are graced with the newest from OCZ, in the form of a Silencer MKII.
The first thing avid users will notice is the traditional PC Power & Cooling exterior and cooling design is gone. This unit has been redesigned and engineered to provide a much more compact but reliable Power Supply.
Silencer MKII’s will come in a wide variety of Wattage Ratings, starting at 500W and going all the way to 950W in increments of 100W. The smallest 500W unit is only rated for 80+ Bronze, however the higher end models all bear the 80+ Silver rating. This should sit well for those who appreciate and demand high efficiency from their PSU’s.
Power on all models will be provided by a customary single 12V rail, and much like Silencers of the past all connections will be hard wired. Cooling is now provided by a more traditional 135mm Fan mounted at the bottom, which should be more than adequate for cooling. Backed by a 7 year warranty, all that we can wait for is North American pricing and Availability and to see if these new Silencers can continue in the footsteps of their predecessors.
