Update: Corsair has officially launched the case only hours after the rumours circled the net. You can fine full details and product shots here
Corsair’s first foray into the computer case market with the Obsidian 800D made headlines and rocketed it to fame, becoming the premiere full tower. Word has now been leaked online that Corsair will expand their lineup with a little sibling, labeled the 700D.
Despite many internet reports, when comparing the listed dimensions, the 700D is no smaller than the 800D, at 24″ (H) x 24″ (L) x 9″ (W) (609 X 609 X 229 mm). It does make a few minor changes however, including the replacement of the side window with a blank panel and removing the hot swappable drive front drive tray. Changes which are sure to drop the price, but likely only a bit.
It features a steel construction with aluminum front, and keeps the same amazing cable management and routing options that make the original such a hit.
In truth it would seem like this case should simply be offered as an alternate version of the 800D, listed as a basic model rather than a whole new product as it doesn’t seem to make to many fundamental changes in the design.
Hopefully, more details will emerge at the upcoming CeBit conference.
