Only a few weeks ago, we reported the release of the new HX750W and HX850W, Corsair’s new power supplies, that bridge the gap between its modular 620W and the behemoth HX1000W. Well, now Corsair can add another trophy to its cabinet
The PSUs originally received the 80 PLUS Silver Certification, which is a feat in itself, but now, with a few improvements, Corsair has proven that the units really are the top of the game, and have made the cut for an 80 Plus Gold seal of approval.
The 80+ Gold requires that a PSU achieve 87% efficiency at 20% load, 90% efficiency at 50% load and 87% efficiency at 100% load. The results for the two PSUs below:
HX750W: 88.04% / 90.02% / 87.04%
HX850W: 89.14% / 90.38% / 87.06%
The Gold Certification is no small achievement either. Only a handful of power units make the cut, in over 1,500 products listed on the 80 Plus system, only 59 (or 3%) have acheived this prestigous accomplishment. This is Corsair’s first product to acheive such a rating and in fact, there is speculation that these may be the first ever modular power supply to achieve such a rating.
The Corsair HarX750W and HX850W are currently available at most fine online retailers
