Alright so I would like to open this up by telling you guys this is my first complete computer build. I have upgraded my old PC and fixed some minor problems before, but have never built a complete computer from scratch. All parts were ordered from NCIX.COM: Motherboard: DFI P45-t2rs CPU: Q6600 RAM: Mushkin Ascent's 4gb 2x2GB PC2-8500 Video Card: HIS HD 4870 512MB HDD: Western Digital 640GB DVD Burner: Samsung True-Direct Lightscribe DVD burner Case: Antec P182 PSU: PC P&C 750w Quad Silencer Monitor: LG L226WTY-BF Heatsink: TRUE 120 w/ Noctua P12 (MX-2 applied) Case fan(s): 2 Antec Tri-Cools (top & back on low exhaust) 1 Noctua P12 (intake front middle) Removed the Tri-Cool next to the PSU (couldn't get the PSU in w/o removing it) ![]() ![]() Hmm.... Delivered by UPS and all the boxes are intact and pretty clean.... I'm impressed! ![]() And people complain about NCIX's packing?!?! ![]() ![]() Look at all dem pretty parts! (yes there are some extra's lol I couldn't resist!) ![]() PSU installed ![]() This is the Motherboard with just the CPU installed ![]() This is the motherboard with CPU and HSF and RAM installed. (it should be noted once in the case I switched the side of the fan so it would blow through the heatsink and out the top of the case (sucked out by on of the tri-cooled)) ![]() ![]() This is a Picture of the case (notice the HSF) with everything installed in the case and yes this is about as neat as it gets. ![]() Another pick of the case (this is my final cable management for upper camber but I will go back and fix it up later) ![]() ![]() Picture of the case upright (plastic is still on in the pic and on my desk lol I know as soon as I take it off I'll scratch it) ![]() ![]() Thought I'd throw this in here... the smaller one came with my old ~400 watt generic PSU the thicker one is the one that came with my 750 watt PC P&C..... theres a little difference the new one is about twice as thick. ![]() The monitor was shipped to days later...again by UPS....again no damage...I might consider them as a viable option from now on. ![]() ![]() Nice difference from the old to the new,,,, ![]() And she works! Hope you guys enjoyed this. It was my first build and I hope to do another one soon! Also I havn't given OC a real try yet because I need to reseat my heatsink (getting low 60's under load at stock) I'll upgrade the thread once I get my OC's stable. My thoughts: Case is very quiet. Fans are both quiet but noctuas are quieter, HDD is quiet Burner is quiet when idle (does nothing so is silent but when I use it, it is very loud.HD 4870 I put the fan to 35% and I'm getting low 50's at idle its louder then the stock 22% but I was getting 80+ idle at 22% ![]() Monitor I like but I still need to play around with the settings to make it much better. Also I want to thank everyone on HWC and NCIX forums who helped me with part selection, information, and general advice (and a special thanks to Death_Hawk who helped me get some free shipping). EDIT: Finally got it P.S. Let me know what you guys think Last edited by klaiboi; July 19, 2008 at 04:20 PM. |

Looks great! That shot of the widescreen beside the CRT is quite useful for folks wondering about actual screen height when comparing LCDs to CRTs. Judging by the pic, I'd guess that a person would need at least a 21" widescreen to get the same screen height as a square 19".

Nice rig! I honestly don't think I would change anything in that setup. Such a great collection of parts. Enjoy!

Thanks guys! I've gone back since and curled my SATA cables around a pencil to make the cables neater.... I also reseated the heatsink and now have my CPU @ 2970MHZ (was at 3.00 ghz but it was a little hot so I backed down still a little hot like 62 under full load I might reseat the TRUE again to try and get some better temps And with the LCD my bro is like its so far from your seat....I'm like I have all this room on my desk now lol |
