Ok.

I have gotten the main tank 'inner' back from the Fab shop.There's a plate of 316L stainless welded on the bottom.

As you can see ;

There is about a 1/4 inch of excess diameter there.I'll have to grind it off.

I've also done some prelim werk on the rack :

From That pic you can see ;

-The top front , this will hold the vacuum/N2 manifolds as well as power switches/LCD display.....

-The rig on the bottom ; this will be running the LCD HW monitors , as well as my digital 'scope.

The small tank setup will be for solvent recovery from the 'exhaust ' setup.It will also be providing cooling for the gascooling on the bottom rig.

----

My glass ain't here yet , but that's no issue.It's paid for.

I've looked into the silicone sealant from momentive.RTV 656 is only available in 1 gallon lots for 1400$ US.I have emailed them in an effort to see if they have any 1 pint lots left.They discontinued the 1 pt size because nobody was using the -115 C silicone.....hawhaw.....

We'll see what happens with that.

-------

I've started work on the vacuum and N2 manifolds too...I've got some gauges and most of the valves....

More soon.

Wow ! Thanks for the offer 3.0charlie.I appreciate it !

Technically , there is probably a group of silicones I can use , but I'm no expert and well , momentive is proving very difficult to communicate with.

Here's the rtv656 page :RTV 656

The ideal silicone from my standpoint would be a 1 part , self adhereing , reasonably thick , clear silicone thats capable of withstanding -100C.
However , from what i've seen , all the silicones capable of that temp are 2 part , primer required , thin silicones.Not a big deal really but it will change my construction methods.

If it's the right silicone , I'd need about a pint of the silicone and a 1/4 pint of the curing agent.I can get the primer myself , but I still want to touch base with momentive and make sure i'm looking at the right products , so there is no rush at all.

Thanks again !!

What in the World will this thing look like once finished...

If you're having issues with GE Silicones, why not look at Dow Corning? I've found this adhesive, which is close to your requirements:DOW CORNING® 3-6121 LOW TEMPERATURE ELASTOMER.

I did some more research and found that RTV510, 567, 577, 655 and 656 would do the trick. Same for the Dow Corning stuff. But no luck Bud... sorry. All those sealants are not on our Preferred Parts List within the Company. Thus they are not ordered, nor can I request them.

I even requested samples from both suppliers... and both requests were denied. First time that ever happened to me.
