I've never seen this thread before, but damn you did a great job. Those chevette cores are in amazing shape. Both the bonneville and chevette cores I've had were banged up horribly, and I was always afraid to put them somewhere visible to the naked eye.

Just posting the updated pics. I went back to my 'comfort zone' and am now using glycol again. What I thought was algae before turned out to be corrosion when I was using straight DI water + copper sulphate. I'm only running 5% glycol and sure there are probably cooling reprocussions as a result. Plain water is best and I have 95% of it then glycol is only (approximating) 60% as good, so the net result is in the neighbourhood of 98% as good as plain water... I think I'll be able to sleep at night. I replaced the fan in the psu with a NF-P12 which made a world of difference in the noise. The psu barely gets this fan spinning so there is NO noise there, and the pumps are equally as silent. The two noctuas on the rads are the only noise producers (which are both on LOW speed) and are still up for debate but as you can guess it's a pretty quiet rig. I really HATE the spiral wrap on the tube going fron the vid card to the NB block but I have to have it unfortunately. I've seen pics of copper plumbing fittings turned in a lathe to make barbs that has me thinking. I might go that route and do some hard plumbing to clean this up a bit. If I decide to explore that route I want to make it worth it though. The CPU will stay on it's own loop, The GPU will again be on it's own loop, and a third loop would be added to handle the NB and anything else I can think of to put in that loop. I like a clean look but I like being quiet even more as I'm discovering. As always I welcome all comments and any critiquing. ![]() ![]()

So, did you find out why the rad was leaking, or why there was a pool of water?
