Default donimo's first "just for fun" rig

So, I finished getting it together enough to run, couple snags but it booted up first try, so sweeeet.

Here are some pics, excuse the crappyness, too lazy to get the camera that works:

So, this case ain't perfect, had to solder in an extension for the power/reset leads, great idea Antec, make cables that don't reach the bottom of a motherboard, only half of all mobo's put them there .

I only ended up cutting 2 holes, one by the power supple, and one 10cm in from the ps2 ports for the 4 pin CPU, it came with the 2 by the drive bays.

I also put in carbon filters in each drive blank, and a foam one on the 120mm side fan hole, still want to swap the vented pci brackets for solids, then 90% of the incoming air will be filtered. I added a yate loon 120 to the back of a drive bay and moved it to the top blowing on the RAM and CPU, for 99 cents I thought why not (still have 4).

The thermalrite hr-05 only fit one way with the freezer 7, and that had it about 2mm from the backside of the vid card, so I added a $2 scythe 40mm to the stock hs, so far so good.

Even with the filter restriction I am getting AMAZING temps for an air-cooled case.

CPU- 39*C with atitool and 4 cpuburns running (orthos later)
GPU- 36*c atitool
hdd 28*
ambient- 30
NB- 33

So, I think its a go for baseline benching then o/c trials, Im happy with how it turned out so far, not bad for $620 after taxes.

Nice cheap setup

However, it looks like your sidepanel doesn't have any plastic/plexiglass behind the metal mesh stuff?

Take off the side-panel and snap a pic as well.

ok, pics away:

This one just shows the mini kaze fan, only 14dB

CPU at idle is 16*C, it is cold in the basement, but still! This is with eztune, the gigabyte s/w, and it is bang on upstairs...

Not bad at all.
I'm sure you could still work that cable management a bit.
My dad just picked up a Dremel today, So I'm thinking about cuting a side panel for my CM690.I'll do that, cut a couple of places for some better cable management, Paint the interior of the case black and perhaps cut some restrictive metal for the fans. so yeah I'll post pics of it when my project will be done :)

Sweet, I like the 690 a lot.

I will be reorganizing for sure, just a "tired of soldering on my knees" quickie job.

I'm starting to dislike the CM690 just for the fact that A LOT OF PSU's have SHORT cables! Dang, today I put another PSU in my case....and again too short! I do not like BOTTOM mounted PSU cases!!!

Ps. Sorry to steel your thread...I like your case though!

My crappy power supply turned out perfectly for cable length, plus fully sleeved cables to boot, too bad it wasnt a better unit, but we'll see how she goes...

For the record I bumped it up to 266fsb, 2.67ghz cpu, 1066 ram, stock voltages on everything, ran like a charm!

You have a sweet rig; now go and enjoy pushing it until it screams "Enough!". And the Antec Earthwatts is not a "crappy" PSU. 500W for your rig is plenty and the Antec will provide stable volts.

Sorry, it's an antec smartpower, the earthwatts is in the upstairs pc.

Ill update my sig...

Got it at 3.0ghz (ddr1000) on stock voltages, these crucials wont go past 1066 on 2 volts, might try upping it and see.

TAT has it at 50*C, onboard sensor at 43*

side note: this ds3L came with eazytune5, but also ETC (easy tune center) anyone tried it, it RULES as a little program, cpu-z, parts of everest and eztune without all the BS, nice simple interface, I love it. Wasnt on the cd that came with my other ds3l...

np, but I don't know the Smartpower series. If you go higher FSB-wise, don't forget to cool the NB and SB on the DS3L - they run hot!

I don't know about Easy Tune Center. I'll check it out. Thanks!

Turns out at 3.0 it was upping the voltage, got that sorted.

At 2.75ghz/1100ddr on stock voltage its 43*C with TAT after an hour at full load, schweet

good to see you got your pc up and running.
now tear it apart and give that puppy's interior a paint job. you'll be amazed at the overall effect (if you can see past the clutter)
