I ordered a pair of these: Scythe Himuro Fanless Hard Drive Silencer for 3.5IN HDD Fits 5.25IN Bay SATA eSATA Black - DirectCanada Not gonna be as quiet as the rubber insulated ones, but should keep them cool. I'll rubber mount them so the ps fan pulls air past them and see if they are quiet enough. |

Nothing yet, besides biocide and anti corrosive additive. So much disinformation out there regarding this. From what I've researched (from engineering sites and not PC enthusiast sites) the 10 feet of nylon hose that separates the aluminum from the copper is more than enough to nullify the electric potential between the 2 materials. I'll check the loop in a few months, if I see anything I'll add a stainless anode to the loop.

The wife would kill me if I built that ...

Yeah, if you can isolate them electrically, you can avoid corrosion, although it generally requires a remote mounting like you've done. It's trickier than most people realize, and starts to get really hard when you start using aluminum reservoirs and waterblock tops, etc. In your case, I'm assuming that everything on the bench is copper, with all the aluminum over behind the couch?

Yah. I just had a head smack moment too while reading over at ncix. If you use non conductive coolant you can eliminate galvanic corrosion totally. I ordered some. In black, Yamawho and Bliss have shamed me away from red. |
