Default MCW60 and HD2600XT compability questions

I was wondering if the Swiftech MCW60 was compatible with HD2600XT?
The product page states that the block is compatible with all ATI cards X1800 and above, which obviously covers my card, but I wanted to make sure.

My second question is to the owners of the MCW60...Is the block symmetric so it can be mounted with the barbs facing any direction? The reason I ask is because in every picture the barbs are perpendicular to the PCI-X slot. I need the bars to be parallel to it because I can't have tubing going over the card.

Thanks!

Just a question : why do you want to watercool your HD2600XT?

I would just slap on a passive accelero S1 and call it a day (for 19.99$)...

I know this doesn't help, but just curious.

this card is in an HTPC with literally no space above the card, so any passive after market cooler is out of the question because a) they usually take up more than one slot and b) they (accelero included) are fairly wide and so they stand too tall, so I wouldn't be able to close the lid on the case.

Lets answer your questions.

I have one and it came with a separate adapter plate for the 2xxx series ati so yes.

Yes, you can mount it with the barbs facing in any direction.

Also, the ramsinks don't stick with the thermal tape provided. I had several fall off and short my audigy mounted below. get the 2 part thermal epoxy and use that.

Synth, If you have watercooling why would you not want to cool your vid card that way too?

I bought the apex ultra plus kit. The mcw60 alone may not come with the plate. Simple fix:

Well it's an HD2600XT card, so for the price I wouldn't have bothered.

But the OP hadn't mentionned htpc/space constraints in his first post : now it makes sense.

Kinda happy to find out that the card can be installed which ever way, since I'm about to install one on my HD3870.

Cheers!

Sigh, why do you have to be sensible

anyone tried or know of any modifications to the accelero? in particular, is it possible to fold the top parts of the heat pipes without breaking them making the heatsink shorter? :P

You can cut off some of the fins, just don't touch the heatpipes...
