Default question aboot barbs

1. Hi all just wondering if its a good idea to use Plumbers tape on the thread of barbs when attaching to radiator or cpu block or it does not matter?

It does work, but it is a little more precise. I did it with 2 of my barbs, 1 was fine, 1 had a small small leak. about 1 drop per day...

my personally experincec you need one the the following.

1. Barb with an O-Ring
2. Teflon Tape (might be what your calling plumbers tape)

How ever when using teflon tape it must be wrapped in the opposite direction of the thread so when it is screwed in it will get tighter and not unravel producing in a less than secure fitting.

If it were me i would go the route of metal barbs with rubber orings such as the D-tek or thermochill ones.

You shouldn't need plumbers tape if the barb comes with an o-ring. As long as the o-ring has decent pressure against both the fitting and the block/rad/other, you shouldn't have any leakage. Myself, I use a "hand-tighten+1/3 turn with wrench" guideline for tightness, but that's admittedly pretty subjective.

yea ma barbs came with the o-ring swiftech high flow metal ones so i guess im safe then to assume im fine with just the o-ring.
