Default Coolant life

how long is watercooling coolant life good for ?

for some reason my 4790k @ 4.7ghz is reaching 80+ degres but always ran under 50-60, i have XSPC block with a 420mm rad on push only and 280mm rad in push pull

i build this pc in 2009 using distilled water and mayham pastel with dazmode protector

Technically you are supposed to change it once a year. You should flush and clean everything out. I'm not sure that has to do with the rise of temp but it might. Is the rad dusty?

nop i clean my rads every months, its not very dusty here

this is current and the max was 2min in prime95

Well seeing how long has been left for I would flush it and pull the blocks off and put fresh paste on everything

also i just checked and Mayhem pastel are good for 2 years... so i was supposed to change it nov 2015.. couple months passed it date :P i'll go get some distilled water later and make a new batch

Sounds to me like the fins inside the cpu block is coated with filth and isn't transferring heat correctly. You might be able to soak it in some hot water and an o-ring safe cleaner. I've had cpu blocks do this before.

Better if you can take it apart to clean though.

Pastels are not good for 2 years. The particles will definitely settle before that. I personally won't ever be using them again in my rigs.

If you aren't using acrylic tubing, plasticizers are a much bigger concern than coolant though. They will clog blocks most definitely faster.
