I'd say 95% of the gunking in loops is caused by plasticizer being leeched out from the tubing. Rarely have I seen issues caused by bacterial growth. What brand of tubing are you using?

no offence to dazmode but the protector is just glycol... you can buy a 2L 50/50 glycol from Canadian tire for the same price as the little container and mix a bit into your loop to keep the bugs from growing and reduce any metal break down on the blocks. Disposing of it later is the only issue I guess... I just keep an extra windshield washer bottle around for the waste and drop it off at a Canadian Tire when its full.

what's the best tubing lowfat?

Thanks for the info guys, unless someone is running into problems, I'll likely keep the coolant for months to come.
