Question monsoon fitting problems

I was testing apart of my build today and found the monsoon fittings I have don't work with the tubing. I have monsoon 3/8 5/8 fittings and PrimoChill PrimoFlex Advanced LRT Tubing 3/8 5/8.

So the issue is with getting the compression ring around the barb. It was very difficult, and when I went to tighten it I had use so much force and still had not got it on. In the end I had to place the compression ring at the edge of the hose, then push the hose down. When the hose was on I then tightened the ring. But this does not seem to be the right way. I watched a few youtube videos and it looked like the videos were allot easier to get the hoses on.

If you have monsoon fittings what tubing are you using?
