So i was taking some fans off to clean my rad, and see how quiet it would be in pull, instead of push-pull, and compare temps... I have a modded bitfenix Shinobi with a xspc 240rx rad in the front. Well, I was putting a screw in, and went too far i guess. I use prestone coolant, so when i smelled something sweet, i knew something was wrong. Sure enough, theres a little puncture. Its not leaking quickly, but a leak is a leak. I havent turned the system on yet either. Ive got tissue paper pluggin it at the moment.. We'll see how long that holds up..
Is there any way to fix a **** up like this? Or can i just consider the rad junk, and go back to air cooling until i have the money to buy a new rad?
If i need to throw the rad out, i may need a donation 1155 cooler lol.
:curses: I wish I could leave "good enough" alone...
Edit: As I wait for the rad to get fixed....
Minus the rad, thats in a shop lmao
No you can't fix it, you'll need a new rad.
Idunno about that Supa. If it's in a place that you can easily get to, you can JBWeld it, seems like a pretty common fix for small punctures.
Try using some JB Weld. I've seen others that have had success with it.
EDIT: Looks like I was ninja'd.
JB weld? Alright I'll try that tmmrw... Mini blizzard in Cape BReton atm...
:censored: Wish I was more careful... REALLY didnt need this to happen right now.
Thanks for quick replies!
or you could just braise it your self, I don't have the know how on doing that but I used to use alumiseal on my car rad or take it to a friend of mine that would braise the thing,
hmm. By the smell of it, my rad is copper, so i dont think alumiseal would work. I was thinking of using a rad sealer, but I would rather not have that shit floating through my system. I am going to try JB weld... If that doesn't work... I dunno. Wait until I see a similar rad on BST
all radiators are copper are not they? go your your local radiator shops and see what they will charge you to fix it some people might door it for nothing or very little
Good point, I will try to find a rad shop aroiund here. That would be much better than smearing **** over it and hoping... I think some rads might be aluminum, but im not sure! maybe i am just weird haha.
If anything, this rad gave me a reason to do a deep cleaning of my case and components -.-
Took it to a car rad shop, as Shadow suggested, and they told me they would have it fixed tmmrw morning.... Heres hoping!
