My System Specs

Default i7 920/GTX580 - Minimum Radiator

Since I'm feeling like upgrading (for no real reason) and in turn handing down my system to my brother, what would you guys say the minimum radiator size would be to run a i7 920 and GTX580 adequately? I mean, it doesn't need to be super low temperatures or anything, but just cool enough so they can both operate within their limits.

I was hoping for a single 120mm, but I'm guessing that won't be enough? What about a single 180mm? Trying to keep it internally housed within the Silverstone FT01.

Overclocking either of them, also is the i7 920 a C0/C1 or a D0?

It's a D0. Probably have the CPU OC'd a bit, likely not the current 4.2GHz it's at, maybe 3.4GHz or something with HT enabled.

GTX580 will remain stock, it doesn't clock all that great anyhow.

a 240 rad would suffice, but it might a bit toasty. if you can throw a 240+120 in, or a 360 if you have room.

Well I mean, anything can hang off the back, but I was trying to keep it internal.

I think I might start with a 180mm up front and if it's not enough, add a 120mm to the rear.

I ran a 240mm with a 920 and 2-gtx260's. All 3 overvolted and clocked to max stable. No problems at all.

Was looking at this: Magicool Extreme 180mm x 35mm Slim Radiator (MC-RADI180) - FrozenCPU.com and mounting it to the front 180mm fan and removing the HDD cages.

I think it should be enough surface area to keep things adequately cooled. Machine sits on the floor too so in theory it would get cold air to it.
