Default m4 screws

Are m4 threaded screws commonly found in canadian hardware stores? I got this nice shiny tecnofront airbox shroud for my HW labs black ice gt stealth radiators and I cannot mount it because the shroud came with 6-32 screws. And the m4 screws I need have to be only 5mm long.

Is it safe to just cut my 1 1/4 m4 screws with my dremel or will that possibly damage the thread?

At Home Depot? Not really. At Lowes, slightly better chance. That's been my findings at least. I believe Fastenal is the most likely place to find M4 screws, but if I recall you have to buy a fair number of screws.

If you have a M4 nut, you should be able to cut it with a Dremel and just screw the nut on and off a few times to clean up the threads.

I cut my 6-32 screws for my rad fine using a dremel, I found the best thing was to thread a nut on there first, and roll it off after I finished to fix the thread. However, with yours so short, I'm not sure if that'll work.

EDIT: 'd

Unfortunately no m4 nuts :(. I see there is a fastenal not too far from me. How much is a fair number? I don't want to have to spend 20 bucks otherwise I will order the 6mm ones from mnpctech. I just don't want to have to wait if possible lol.

Ok well after looking over the product at the frozencpu site the shroud is supposed to come with 5mm m4 screws. I emailed them so hopefully they will correct the problem.

I found M4 screws at the local hardware store but the choices weren't very long.

You could try your local Japanese motorcycle dealer or European chainsaw dealer, they may have something.....

check locale A&G for hardware/fastners

have a nut from rad to match screw, for thread pitch changes

in canada for rads we use imperial # 6-32 screws

Note: check your detph before screwing into rad, don't want screw into a tube , but ok if hit between tubes on the cooling fins

Alright well FrozenCPU contacted me back and said they will straighten it out on Monday. If somehow they are stubborn enough not to send me the screws I will have to try some of the suggestions above or cutting them myself. Thanks a bunch. I don't know what I would do without the good folks of HWC.

Be prepared for a book worth of questions once I actually get around to installing all this stuff. Just finished modding the case. to fit the rad/fans/shroud

Go to Fastenal and buy 100x (min order) M4 screws 45mm long and cut them to the desired length. You'll have screws for all your builds for the rest of your life lol!! That's what I did. You just have to paint them mate black if you need to.

I tap all my rads M4 now.
