Magicool 180 Rad in a 650D?
 
I am planning on adding to my loop, and was wondering if a Magicool 180 radiator fits on the front of a 650D, without modding. Has anyone ever used this radiator in the 650D or 600T?

I've spoken to a few people who have used the phobya 200 rad, general consensus is there is some dremelling involved, at this moment I don't really want to do that. But if the Magicool 180 doesn't fit I suppose I will attempt it. One person actually managed to do it without modding it, so might try that too, but don't want to buy this rad if the Magicool one will do fine (it is also quite a bit cheaper).

Magicool 180: Magicool 180 Slim Radiator - Single 180/35mm Thick Products Model: MC-RAD180 [MC-RAD180] : Performance-PCs.com, ... sleeve it and they will come

Current Loop:
EK 240 Rad
EK Acetal/Copper HF CPU Block
EK DCP4.0+Reservoir Combo

Plan to add:
EK 250 Reservoir (looks a lot better than the combo reservoir imo)
Block for 6950 (MCW60+Swiftech HS, or an EK full cover)
-Maybe crossfire later down the road if I can find a cheap 6950
Radiator: Magicool 180 + EX120, or just a phobya 200 (would prefer the 180 if its possible)

It will fit. It will not line up with any screw holes though. I've been told you should just be able to fit some screws through the stock fan grill though.

Thanks a lot for the reply. That would work then.

Most probably go that route, but having some trouble find any sort of review on the single 180 radiator, but I guess its cooling ability is between a 240 and a 360 rad.

Not a review of the Magicool rad, but it shows the raw surface area can put out some insane performance.

Standard 240mm rad surface area = 120x240 = 28,800 mm2
180 surface area = 180x180 = 32,400 mm2 or about 12.5% more area, not allowing for depth of the rad.

Depth on rads actually makes little to no difference.

Hmm so its definitely better than a 240 rad. I always thought depth made a difference, but I'm new to all this lol.

I'll order this stuff around mid-april and hope it all arrives by the time I'm done exams, then start putting it all together. Who knows might change my mind and just get the Phobya 200, and play around with the case.

Martin from martins liquid labs just did a review on the rs vs rx series of rads and the rx only won by less 1 degree in temperature. The overall surface area is much more important then the depth.

I would have thought that depth would add to the overall surface area. I'm not saying you're wrong, just that it goes contrary to what I would have thought.

Thicker radiators are more for aesthetics. They perform ever so slightly better to thinner radiators but nothing more than 1-2C.
