Advice Required on my new gear
I just purchased the following items from a fellow HWC and need to know if they are up to the task of cooling both my i7 2600k and a GTX 580 or 7970.
Swiftech MCR320 (360 rad,res,MCP35X pump)
Swiftech Apogee XT rev2 Water block
Swiftech Micro Res
There will be 1/2 barbs for all the items (6x)
Mounting kit for 1366/1155/1156 for the cpu
Some mounting hardware for the res
Screws for mounting fans on the rad.
I have some 120mm Noctua fans and some 120mm Fractal fans that I can fit to the rad.
It will definitely cool your processor. You will need a water block for whatever video card you choose. Either fullcover or universal depending what route you wish to take.
I run a GTX580 and a i7 920 on a triple rad with no problems, and the 2600k isn't near as hot as the X58 chips.
Great news, now I just need o either sell my MSi GTX580 and get one with a block, or buy a 7970 and a block.
You might need more RAD if you dont ramp up the fans. I run my fans @ 5-7v so 360 is not enough for me.
Easily enough, Since i ran that rad with GTs @1100RPM and had really good temps with a 4.6 2600K and 2 470GTXs.
I ran Noctura P12s on that rad and they did an ok job, i switched to GTs and found they where alot better over all.
Ok so I have purchased the following new items.
A Radeon 6990 with a waterblock from Zealotki11er along with 6 Feser Compression fittings 3/8ID - 1/2OD Straight Compression Fitting - Silver FC High Flow Fitting G1/4 - 3/8ID - 1/2OD - $7.49 : DazMode, The Best Canadian PC Watercooling and Modding Store!. All I need now is clarification on the tubing I require and how much? Also should I purchase one of these, 5A External DC Power Supply (MOLEX) for System Testing 5AMP 12V,AC/DC POWER ADAPTER W/ 4PIN MOLEX CONNECTOR [PS-12V5A] - $18.99 : DazMode, The Best Canadian PC Watercooling and Modding Store!
I would also like to clarify that all of this will easily fit into the top of a HAF 932 case, I believe so, although Swiftechs site seems to mentions issues with the reservoir if top mounted and it not being higher than the pump?
You don't really need that need that power supply. You could grab one of these:Link
or just short your own: Turn on a Power Supply without a Motherboard - YouTube
Any of this tubing will do for your compression fittings you bought.
Dazmode 3/8" ID - 1/2" OD TUBE
I was also wondering how I am going to line up the fillport from my HAF 932 Black edition to the Swiftech MCR320, do I need some extra parts for this? Also do I need to use the Micro Res, will it be of any use?
If you have a fillport you can use a t-junction with the tubing to the fillport acting as your res which would replace the micro-res. As far as the tubing goes... your fittings tell you everything you need to know about the size... 3/8 ID 1/2 OD (inner diameter and outer diameter).
