Is a h-100 significantly better than your kuler 920?

The h-100 is 25mm thin, while the 920 is 49mm thick. With the heat load of only the processor I would predict they preform about the same.

EDIT:

If you do get the h100 check out these noctua fans, they're brand new and designed for radiators.

Noctua.at - sound-optimised premium components "Designed in Austria"!

2.61 mmH20 @ 22.4 dB. PWM control. Integrated sound dampening solution. And they have these "teeth" that have this odd effect of making the noise it emits not sound like a fan!

I currently use 3 noctua fans in my case (2x92mm, 1x120mm) and they make zero noise.

Thanks for the FANS and what not can't believe how much they all cost wow where do you guys recommend shopping from? I live in Tillsonburg (no stores lol) but London is where I work so I can get there easy enough to do shopping they have CC, TD, etc.. so I can hopefully PM if its in stock!

-- Good question about the difference between the antec 920 and the corsair H100, they are somewhat comparable from the reviews I read but when in push pull (H100) seems to come out on top by a bit. I'm hoping with better fans that becomes even more.

My i7 2700K right now is with the Antec 920 and it idles bout 26-30 and when gaming does about 45-55 (depending on game) which isnt bad at all Prime 95 though sometimes gets up to 75..

It all depends too how the H100 is setup. ANd if he goes with Push pull on the H100 it should come out ahead of the Antec.
Coupled with using blademasters 3.9mmH20 he should get well ahead of the curve.

Alright got my H100 last night looks in mint shape (was used), came with the 2 original fans which I don't plan on using.

So from the options you all gave me what would you say is best (then I just have to hopefully pricematch at Canada Computers or Tiger Direct (which are in London, Ontario) shipping is usually a deal killer for me inless the places I listed above won't pricematch etc...

Cooler Master R4-BMBS-20PK-R0 Blade Master 120mm Case Fan

Thanks for the help guys. I will for sure be getting 4 fans for push pull (which should give me best results I would figure).

One thing I am new to with all of this is how do you know what has good "Static Pressure" which is what we want right?

One thing I am new to with all of this is how do you know what has good "Static Pressure" which is what we want right?

Well I was on Scythe's main page and I cannot find the Static pressure numbers for the Typhoons. I know they are good, but without a comparitive number I cannot say.

I would opt for them first as they are a higher quality fan than the R4's, and about the same grade as the Noctua.
The R4's from numbers have the highest static pressure but are a sleeve bearing fan and can be loud when using lots (I had a Scout populated with nothing but them at one point, it was cool running but loud enough to hear).

Besides noise the two main numbers you want to concern yourself with on fans are CFM And Static pressure. THe best way to describe it is, CFM is the FLOW or Quantity. Static pressure is the 'Force'.
Fin arrays and Radiators have dense fin arrays, so you need a fan with 'higher force' to push the air through effectively. THat is why the number is so crucial. The higher, the better.

Where as a Case only fan not being mounted to a rad, you would want to use something with higher CFM to maintain POsitive presssure and/or sufficent airflow.

I have the H 100,and all I had to do to lower temps and run very quiet, was to reverse the fans from blowing air out,to drawing air in. I leave the fan speed on medium, and my temps when gaming, never go over 40c. The stock fans on my H 100 are more quiet than my Video card fans etc. etc. Why do you want to change? Just curious.

So your only using 2 fans? I was told 4 fans push pull configuration was much better.

its always a toss up.

it usually comes down to a personal decision on what temps you are happy with, versus how much louder those extra fans would be.

I would say that if you're worrying about the price of 4 fans... start out with two for now, see where you get and move up from there.

I tried a push pull on my H60 before. I got a whopping 1 degree cooler temperature. Personally I think a shroud is needed to make the most of a push/pull setup.
