Default H60 good enough?

I was looking at a Corsair H60 for an old system. I read the reviews on newegg and many people seem to be satisifed. It's an old system so I just wanted something cheap to cool the cpu.

I prefer these to the air kind so what do you think? Even thought it's not a full custom loop, I thought it might be worth it even though they're still a bit expensive. Like $40 or so more expensive than the most budget air cooler, right?

I like how they look in the case. It looks as though it's not obstructing as much and might make it easier to work in the case? Does anyone find that?

Any chance someone would sell theirs used with the ultimate goal of upgrading to a H80 or H100?

For an older system a H60 should definitely suffice. And yes it is quite a bit more than a budget air cooler $75 at ncix. You could probably find one used but it may take some time. I find that with my H100 a lof of space got freed up compared to my CM V8 that I had and the build overall looks cleaner since my case hides the rad well in the top. The single 120 rads can sometimes look bulky when doing push pull configs and having them mounted on the rear exhaust but that's just the way I see it. You should be fine with bulk though if you run a singe fan and since the H60 has a thin rad.

I have an H60 cooling a i5-760 with great results. I did though swap out the stock fan, kinda noisy, for some Arctic Cooling F12's but that was just a personal choice.

Go for it. Corsair is a very good cooler. I have the H 100. Runs very very quiet.

I've been using its earlier brother (H50) to good measure. The H60 is for sure worth what you pay for it.

Installed an h40 on a build recently (2500K) and it was stable at 4.4GHz- might have got 4.5 with the H100, so it's a fair amount more money for little gain in speed. For me, I might go with the H100 just so I could equip it with two quieter fans for the same or better performance, and enjoy the adjustable settings for further silence.

IMO the thin single rad units are worthless... Louder and crappier performance than air. Might as well just get a decent air cooler unless you're just after the look.

^--- you did read that we all had decent performance and it was quieter?

i see you are probably just driving up your post count, but don't spread false info if you are not using the h60
