Ghetto H50 Cooling on GTX570

Got the idea from here: Blog - Using a Corsair Hydro Series

had no screws, so I used zipties :bananafunky:

UPDATE: Bought screws and nuts for better mounting pressure, dropped 8 degrees, now 52-53 degrees MAX at 1.088v

Wow. Just wow. I've used zipties back in the day to mount waterblocks. But I can't say I've ever seen anyone use a piece of plywood. But if it works, then that is pretty awesome.

kudus but replace cover so that ram and vregs get cooled as intended, cut as needed to fit with your dremelhttp://lp1.pinkbike.org/p5pb7381640/p5pb7381640.jpg

The vrms and ram chips are cooled by the stock plate and theres some airflow from the fan, plate just gets warm under full load

the vrms/ram should be ok with the unisink. Nice work.

active cooling

heat = resistance
try a mock-up fan cover out of GF pantihose cardboard

run 2 benchmarks "cover vs naked"

I just found out the pny gtx580 with asetek liquid cooling is pretty much the same as what I have done

seeing as you are going ghetto and all, and ram/vregs "should" have active cooling, why not get a slightly large piece of ply, and mount a 120mm fan onto the one end of it and have the h50 cooling the core on the other, this way here you will get better cooling for both sides of it?
