Dodo are gone because of to much hunting. I don't think the same will happen with WC. ( what a good joke )
IMO I think that WC is like fashion. It come and go, now it's a bit off but it will be probably soon.

I did WC for the challenge first, the cooling ability 2nd, and the aesthetics 3rd.

Is it dead? No.
Is AIO hurting it on a 'purist' sense? Yes.

But there is something very rewarding about researching the parts, buying them and building your own loop. It requires thought, careful hand skills, patience and the occasional downtime for maitenance.

I think of watercooling in the same way as fixing up my Corvette; A hobby that I thoroughly enjoy.

-yes it is a hobby , more so if it's a high watt gaming rig , SB took some bite out of WC [cpu], but they still need a highend card['s] , but most\alot people on other forums say the high vid. card fan rpm does not bother them because they use head phones lol.
- 8800gts sli air not too bad [200w] - 285sli air was bad [200w+] - 570 sli air was worst [300w+]. 580 sli [500w+] under water sounds like a Dell - nothing to hear.

I strongly agree with that. And this is the reason why I think that watercooling is not an endangered species at all... Maybe it lost a bit of its functionnal utility but it's still a lot of fun... You don't really need it but...
