or the failed block's

- the other site putting up\collecting the $1000.00 for testing is a custom plater . so take the results with a grain of salt. and won't give out what his plating process is. - the worst it looks for EK , could mean more $$$ for him.
-also 1-10 samples mean nothing when these block's were done over a period of time and could involve a number of company's[platers] \process's and different QC spec's -if they were even followed.
news flash eddy's true colours are shown for Karma is biting him now after HIS NOTES are gone

for the cost of pure copper has made him use sub par copper and thin plating

note this didn't happen over night it started in 2006

i don't need rocket science to figure this out (no pun intendit Rubi) they just giving the un-bias results to the WC community

I just want to go slightly off-topic here clear up the stainless steal worries, while it DOES technically cause corrosion, even when in direct contact its at a level so low, it would take (only a guess, but wouldn't surprise me for it to be correct){hundreds} of years before any noticeable result would occur. The issue in that RRTech thread was proven to be oxidation from oxygen dissolved in the water, and NOT contact with the stainless steel plate.

Running plain old distilled is perfectly safe and acceptable. Nickel and Chrome plating is used to avoid the issue of oxidation(which would occur even WITH a anti-corrosive liquid/addictive).

The potential difference is 27.5 millivolts, and the polarity is such that the copper is anodic in the cell. That is, the variety of stainless steel used to make that plate is more noble than the copper. Thus, there is a very slight tendancy for the copper to undergo galvanic corrosion in the presence of the stainless plate in physical contact with it. However at 27.5 mV, this corrosion potential is very small, and I would argue that galvanic corrosion in this EK block is not an issue to be concerned about (*).

(*) According to MIL-F-14072, the magnitude of the potential difference should not exceed 250 mV in order to minimize possible electrochemical corrosion.
As for the current EK issue, I don't know if its a plating issue, junk copper issue, milling issue or something else entirely. Whatever it ends up being proven to be once the dust settles, the fact remains, EK has handled this VERY poorly and they will no longer be getting any of my money ever again.

I'm big fan of Watercool, so I will start with their Heatkillers first. Reflecting back, nothing is still better then good 'ol HK3.0. I'm getting black one myself for my Green build.

HK 3.0 is still one of the kings to be sure. I'm actually not a fan of aquacomputers cpu blocks either, but their gpu fullcover blocks are drop dead gorgeous and provide good solid performance.

With Ek out of the market (partially at least) I wonder if the others manufacturers can keep with the demand. If you see something in stock someplace you need, better hit the purchase button quick.

It is even worse, then you think. They could not keep up even before that. I was waiting for paid Kryos blocks for 3 months.
