My System Specs

Default rubber tape thing on backplate of h50

When i was taking the back plate off of my motherboard i rippled that adhesive tape thing that came with it, as i will be reinstalling it i need more, or do i? who do you think would sell this stuff the cheapest

you can pick up 3M two sided tape at any hardware store. Even WalMart sells this stuf.

I believe it's there for mounting convenience if I'm not mistaken. It just holds the mounting plate in place so you can assemble it from the front.

personally, you can live without it. It's just make easier to mount the cooler if you have one because you don't have to hold the backplate with one hand and while trying to mount the pump/block with the other hand. I'm talking about when you try to do the installation with the mobo in vertical position (mobo still installed on the mobo tray with backplate cut-out).

I am going to go with you need it.
i did not use mine on first install as the hole in my mb tray held the piece on the back right in place.
i had a cooling issue for a few days and a couple re paste and re seats did not apply.
so i put them two pads in and there was a definate improvement to how the plate seems to pull down on the pump and water block.
now i didnt peel the sticky tape on the mb side for just such an occurance though
