Default flow rate, overrated?

So I somehow managed to kill my two 18w DDCs. So I installed an Eheim 1250 in its place. The flow of the Eheim is ridiculously low. My flow meter shows 1.3LPM, which is around 0.35GPM. Which is way under the 1GPM which is generally suggested. Now the weird thing is that my CPU temperatures are pretty much exactly the same. The Eheim is also WAY quieter than the 18w DDCs.

Thanks a whole lot , now I have to get a new pump lol. That one looks much better than mine, footprint wise.

HOWTO kill two DDCs? My word.

Anyways, flow isn't critical as long as your system was overkill to begin with. 1GPM is just a rule of thumb for new builds.

I ran on close to 0.2gpm before due to a small plumbing problem before (COUGH CLOGGED UP CPU BLOCK), and it didn't really make a difference in any of my temps including NB/SB and GPU.

An Eheim has a better footprint? This thing is HUGE.

The DDC's I bought had a yellow, black, red wire, and RPM. I think I effed up on wiring them and burned them out.

That's unfortunate, did they both die at the same time?

No. I think I killed the first one the first time I powered up the machine. I noticed my flow was hovering around 0.8GPM so obviously one of the pumps wasn't working. So I tried to fix it and screwed up the other.

I am going to try to do the PCB replacement that is available on eBay. However they aren't meant for DDC3.xx so it may not work. But @ $15 a piece it is worth giving it a shot. I'd rather not have to spent another couple hundred on replacement pumps.

For sure, DDC's aint cheap...good luck! When all else fails, there's also ..this is hard...Air..cooling /wrist

No way an I going to remove my GPU blocks and reinstall the stock HSF's. Too much work. Eheims may not be performance kings but they are about as reliable as pumps come.

a slower flow rate wouldnt mean less cooling as water isnt a very fast heat absorber
just for example some high performance motors have to slow down water flow rates to get the heat out of the motor.
