Default Fitting/pump Help

Hey all, I was recommended this tubing Primochill Primoflex Pro LRT Black 3/8IN ID 5/8IN OD Tubing (10 Feet) - DirectCanada

So my question is which pump should I get, the MCP655 is what I have heard a lot of people talking about, but it is 1/2inch fitting. How would I use the tubing with this pump? are most pumps 1/2inch? any insight would be awesome. going to start my first loop soon. Getting all the parts together.

Primoflex is good stuff but for 1/2 barbs you'll need at least 7/16 ID tubing, soak the tubes inhot water before you slip them on the 1/2 fittings.

You can always buy a top for your 655, that way you get a small performance upgrade and more importantly the choice to use what ever fittings you want be it 3/8, 7/16, or 1/2.

One of the problems with buying pumps with fixed fittings is that you sometimes end up buying a top because you want to use a different tubing size. Here's a hint: it's way cheaper to change your tubing size than to buy a custom top for your pump.

That being said, EK makes a good top for the MCP655/D-5 pumps: EK-D5 X-TOP - Black Acetal G1/4 Rev.2 EK-D5 X-TOP [EK-D5 X-TOP] - $39.99 : DazMode, Canadian PC Water Cooling and Modding Store

Sidewinder has a larger selection: PC Liquid Cooling Pumps, Pump Controllers, Pump Tops and Dress Kits

You can buy a top for the 655. Like so:

EK-D5 X-TOP - Black Acetal G1/4 Rev.2 EK-D5 X-TOP [EK-D5 X-TOP] - $39.99 : DazMode, Canadian PC Water Cooling and Modding Store

or these:

Pump Accessories | Page 1 | Sort By: Product Title A-Z - FrozenCPU.com *

There's a lot more tops available for that pump. And you can use whatever size fittings you want on those tops.

Sidewinder mods the 655 for $10 over the regular pump, so you can choose your own fittings: Sidewinder Custom MCP655 / Laing D5 with G 1/4 Threads

Or go with the MCP350 or MCP355 pump, they have fixed 3/8" fittings.

But it looks way sexyer, ascetics count for alot when doing a loop IMO. And it can offer a lot more flexibility in design of the loop.

Looks a hella better than the stock 655 IMO.

Hmm, lots of good options.

**EDIT: Looked at the sidewinder 655 pump with custom threads. looks like that is the way to go.

If I were to get a top for it that sized it to 3/8" thats all good. but what about the other end of the pump? how would I deal with that since that would be 1/2" correct?
They replace the fittings to what ever you want, 3/8 intake - 3/8 output

Would you guys still recommend a top? everyone is saying you get better efficiency/performance/aesthetics. Thoughts? and if so, any preferable tops?
