Thermal Paste???

I am thinking of purchasing the Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme. It also comes with some thermal grease.

But should I use that thermal grease? Or should I just go out and buy some Arctic Silver 5 for ~$8?

Is there a big difference, or should I just settle with the thermal grease that comes with the cooler?

I would pay the extra $8.00 for the quality stuff, saves you having to re-do it down the road if the temps aren't to your liking.

For only $8 I would opt for the AC5.

Thermalright's grease is one of the better compounds, actually. But switching to AS5 or Ceramique might get you another degree or two under load. Both are easy to over-apply, though.

Isn't the MX-2 the best one to use right now? I only heard that it takes longer to work in but its better than the old AS5

I'm not sure if it's actually much better, but it certainly is on par with AS5, and IMO has the edge due to being non-conductive.

Hey ppl, I just wrote a review that should be online in a few days..! MX-2 is the better one, not only in performance but also price wise! MX-2 does not have a "curing period" for it's paste. Smear it and use it! sswilson is right...it is actually a little better that AS5!
