My System Specs

Default Yet another question

Sorry to spam all lol.

Wondering how beneficial it would be to add a TFC xchanger 120 to my current loop.

I was thinking a radiator after my gpu would greatly help improve cpu temps as I currently have my loop running in the following order:

Pump -> GPU -> CPU -> RAD -> RES.

My GPU temps are spectacular for a GTX 480 , but the cpu I believe is taking a large heat dump from the gpu and figured another rad would help fix that problem. Also would switching the loop to 3/8" from 1/2" be beneficial?

I would just switch the order to CPU -> GPU

Also, changing tubing size will have no effect

also forgot to mention i do plan on adding another GTX 480 to the loop in the very near future as well.

Run them in separate loops then. Unless you have one of those giant efficient german radiators

Extremely little benefit between 3/8" and 1/2", for starters.

If the "heat dump" issue is really bugging you, you could switch the order of the components, but the issue prbably isn't as big as you think it is. Under full burn, 266 watts is a fairly decent approximation of how much heat might actually goes from the GPU into the water. You should also be seeing a flowrate of at least 1gpm with that pump.

Incidentally, at that level of heat dump, and at that flowrate, the water leaving your GTX480 is going to be 1C hotter than it was going in. And by extension, the water entering your CPU block is only going to be 1C hotter than it would if you changed the order.

Having said all that, if you can position the extra 120 rad so that it's getting cool outside air (and not the warm exhaust from the first radiator), it would represent a 50% increase in radiator capacity, so I expect there would be a few degrees to be had there. And that would be highly recommended if you do add a second 480.
