Well, it isn't a danger to the CPU. But there's really no point in bothering, since realistically speaking it won't give you any substantial benefit anyway.

It should work better as you basically weld block and cpu. I keep changing parts on my loop constantly..., otherwise I would put it on.

Uh, no, this is not even remotely similar to welding.

Pretty much the only reason I am doing it is I am doing a rig that will be untouched except for any unforeseen failures. Most of the time I am changing gear like shorts, so it would make no sense.

If I can get an extra 2-3 degrees I will be really stoked. I wonder if they will start making packages for GPUs? I would grab one for my GTX 480 in a jiff if I did see gains on my proc.

I'm in the same boat basically. I have no intentions to upgrade my i7 920, nor do I plan to remove the CPU block until I scrap this whole platform.

I haven't drained it since putting in this radiator (HWLabs SR-1 360), so that's why I'm planning to do a full flush/clean of my loop and then it'll be set for the foreseeable future. As such, when everything's apart, why not try some new stuff too!

I think I'll probably give it a shot anyhow.

Most differences in thermal paste results can be attributed to the application, not the product. Spread it evenly and thinly for best results.
