Swiftech hd 5870 concerns

Just had a look at the thermal tape on my stock heatsink compared to the swiftech heatsink. I noticed the swiftech heatsink is missing a strip, and the heatsink is perforated. I believe it covers a pair of mosfets.

Seems crazy that if Ati would spec their coolers to transfer heat from that area, why not swiftech?



They are labeled R23 in this picture and the stock thermal tape carries over top of the sticker also (pretty sure that part does nothing).



Here you can see what I mean by "perforated"


Should I be worried?

Managed to dig up an answer thru google, just took a little while.



In case anyone else is wondering, found this on OCN. Apparently swiftech does know better than Ati.

These are inductors, rated for maximum operating temps of 125c. Measured temperature at full load in passive cooling mode of the CPL2-4 multi-phase power inductor was comprised between 72 and 75C, and R23's in the low 50's. Temps were measured with a 1.35 vcore.
