Default Weird smell from radiator

Well I recently drained and refilled my loop.

And on top of that OC'ed my E8400 to 4.2GHz.

Now here's the thing, when I put the CPU on load, it gives off quite a bit of heat (that's to be expected) but with it a weird smell. I'm not quite sure what it is.

Any ideas? or perhaps this is normal. Using an MCR320.

Thanks in advanced guys.

What smell? My system smelled like burned electronics for the longest time. I was also using an MCR320.

Hmm, it's really hard to explain. It's sort of a burnt smell I guess, but it's more a... chemical-ish smell. It's really hard to explain.

Almost like how it smells to get a new computer. Except mine is 2 years old already!
Peculiar, but can any MCR320 users comment?

You may have spilled a little coolant while draining and it is on a hot component. If it's only light spillage, it will go away in time. It wouldn't hurt to chech and double check for a leak no matter how tiny it may be.

The MCR's are usually pretty good for being flushed out, so aside from a little dust, there shouldn't really be any scent. What are you using for coolant? A lot of additives have glycol, which has a mild, but distinctive odor to it.

I'm just using standard distilled water in some Primochill LRT tubing with the built in biocide.
What's weird is that I can really only smell it when I have my new OC on, with my old 3.6 it wasn't quite a problem. Perhaps it's too much heat?

I've been trying to find a leak too, but no luck as of yet.

Likewise, when my computer is idling, there's only a very slight hint of the smell, it gets strong as more heat is being transferred.

As for going away with time.. it has been just over a week, I would think it would stop smelling by then.

Really awestruck actually, just worried if I should be worried or not!

Can you hear anything around the socket area? Maybe a very faint popping/crackling noise?

No abnormal noises to report.
If it helps, I did only notice it after doing a full break down and rebuild due to changing my case (P182 - 800D)

Think it may just be the natural case odors coming out through the radiator? Since it is mounted inside and all.

Yeah, a new case could definitely cause that, and an increase in case temps could encourage it. If that's all it is, should go away in time.
