Default NEW REVIEW: Flow Test

Here is another mini-review, where I checked for myself what is really happening when speed settings changed on Swiftech 655-01 pump.

Some good and some bad news here...

Water cooling Review. Swiftech 655 / D5 speed influnce of water cooled loop temperature

Any chance of testing flow rates with 1/2" vs. 3/8" tubing?

I will put request on my list. RIght now I will do multi block test on my i7 gaming rig that has 6 blocks installed to see if that makes any difference.

This has been done by the legendary Cathar. I can't find the link immediately, but I can summarize for you:

Unless you go down to 1/8" tubing, the difference cannot be measured unless you have a controlled environment and fairly accurate equipment.

We're talking on the order of 1 to MAYBE 2 degrees from 1/2" to 1/4" and the difference between 1/2" and 3/8" is less than 0.5C as I recall.

Thanks Linus, but I was more interested in the flow rate than temps. Mostly because of Daz's max flow rate of around 1 GPM.

Yup, could have predicted that outcome. And this is all in the sub-1gpm part of the cooling curve, where any differences would be most pronounced.

THIS is probably the thread you're talking about, Linus. Definitely a good read.

I wonder how many people have systems with 2 or more GPM pump power?

With 6 blocks in the system starting flow is 3.2LPM from 3.8LMP with single CPU block at max setting (5).

Three DDC 3.2's in series, running about 2.5gpm right now. I keep meaning to convert them down to 3.1's, but have been too lazy to pull the loop apart.
