Glad to be of service. Nah, I'm not trying to pick on anyone, but it just happens to be you who I get to correct from time to time.

With regards to X58 vs EX58, I thought all Gigabyte X58 boards were named EX58-UD**. Maybe you have the chance to correct me now MarkOne. (I'm at work and IE6 is incredibly slow, so I don't want to even attempt loading the Gigabyte site)

actually they I look at Gigabyte they are no X58-UDP4 but they have X58a who are not EX58 I"m not an expert in Gigabyte...look at my avatar, I just look at the koolance web site and search a X58 as it was name in the post.. so yes I make a mistake from a typo error, not because I don't look properly in the list , I was looking for a X... I don't know all the model of Gigabyte, but yes koolance list it as compatible, the problem is that Gigabyte put their caps too close.

here the list of the 1366 socket

Yeah, no problem. I'm not trying to make anyone look dumb, just trying to clear things up. We all know Gigabyte is weird.
It seems there are only a couple with the X58A name, and those are the newer ones with USB3/SATA3. Now I know, thanks Mark.

the only dumb thing is the paste on the cpu and pry a Cooler on the caps.
I know very well that some cooler don't fit everywhere, and I first look at the clearance of the componants around ,wen I install my Noctua back plate on my Rampage, I see the plate will crush the cap at the back, so I pass the plate to the dremmels. , now noctuqa change the design of the plate

funny what a typo can bring US...

MarkOne-The newer GB boards are the ones that begin with X instead of the EX (already been mentioned). So he has an GA-EX58-UD4P (I think you already figured that out).

I would be seriously embarrassed to show a picture like that to thousands of people. That is like half a tube of thermal paste

Maybe it was for demonstration that there was crappy/no contact. I hope.

Let's try and keep this topic on subject guys.

Sure, we can bash the guy for putting too much TIM on there (a common mistake) but that wouldn't be much use at all, the real subject is Koolance....and they as a company should be ashamed to release a block without testing it to make sure it would fit.

I'm very disappointed in them as this isn't to be expected from a well respected and renowned company......almost shocking they didn't get back to the guy yet, why the wait Koolance???
