Default GPU L/C question: MCR220 sufficient?

Okay, I am aware GPUs create less of a heat dump into a L/C loop, but the loop I have in mind may be a bit "dumpier" than most.

I'm going to be cooling 2 x 9800GX2 + 2 x 8800GTS 512 in a single loop. Using Koolance VID-398GX2 for the GX2's and EK-FC88 for the GTS's. Would a single 240 rad be sufficient? I have both a MCR220 and a PA120.2 I could use, but would prefer to use the MCR if it's good enough due to space issues. I don't need the most optimal performance ever - I just want to make sure this loop won't boil the water.

FYI - i7 860 will be on its own loop with a PA120.3.

Thanks!

Yes, with good fans. It is either bigger rad or more airflow balance game.

I'm sure MpG and others will elaborate better then I do.

I've literally got a bucket full of 2k Ultra Kazes.

I'm thinking you'll be wanting to use your PA120.2. I think they can dissipate a lot more heat than the MCR220, and you'll need it with those 4 spaceheaters in the loop. That's 6 GPU's, right?

That's right. That's why I'm a wee bit nervous, just because I've never run that many GPUs in a single loop before.

Previously, I had both the GX2's in a loop with my QX9650 - but that was with the PA120.3 and the PA120.2 both in the loop as well. And that worked pretty well.

I was thinking more 3k San Aces ....but that is just my guess.

Generaly speaking MCR220 is theh worst performing rad I ever tried myself, but with enough air power it may work.

Swap that 120.3 to the GPUs, and the 120.2 for the CPU.

Interesting idea. The PA120.2 strong enough for an overclocked i7 860 you think? It will, after all, be the only heat load in the loop aside from the marginal load dumped by the MCP655. I have zero plans for looping in anything on the mobo.

Good dual rad on i7 is very adequate. Check my Antec 902 in signature.

Yes the PA120.2 is a pretty beefy rad.. should be able to cool those i7 processors, I've seen people cooling a C2D Quad and card like a 4870 on a 120.2 without any issues..

So +1 on Charlie's idea..
