Default Coolit Freezone vs. Freezone Elite

Greetings all. I can't seem to find any comparisons between the two.I'm currently using the freezone to cool my C2D. Great results. However, I have a quad on the way (9450) Does anyone here know the difference in the amount of cooling between the two? I'm not sure my Freezone will cool an oc'ed 9450. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

The difference is the Elite has 6 TECs to help with the cooling. It would definitely provide lower temperatures than the non-Elite, but your current setup should be sufficient for keeping a Q9450 cool.

in independent tests, the freezone elite would start to choke when a q6600 was pushed past 3.6 ghz. ~200-250w tdp.

The q6600 is a 95w chip, so is the q9450... and if they both scale similarly temperature-wise with voltage, I wouldn't expect performance above a conventional water cooling setup, or even high-end air when the chip goes under full load.

It was shown that the freezone elite only improved idle temps beyond 200w tdp; under full load, it performed worse than a TRUE.

One thing I'd like to add: From my experience with cooling, you want to go big or go home if you plan on doing any serious overclocking.

I was able to get 3.6 out of my e6400 with the freezone at a load temp of about 58C before i hit a wall. I could'nt get any kind of stability after that. I was just wondering if the freezone elite provides more cooling watts than the freezone. I can then assume that an elite will out perform the freezone when it comes to my quad. I can probably lap the quad and squeeze out 2C more headroom. I really like the coolit systems. Drop it in, crank the rheostat and go.
I can sell my freezone and justify the difference to purchase an elite.

psst: send an email to Coolit asking them about a trade up.

The freezone elite is ~20-30% better than the vanilla freezone. Good luck.

P.S I like coolit for that very same reason. Great Company.

Mine is a refurbished unit. Will they still do a trade-up? I thought I got mine for a fantastic price.

Hmmmm....I don't see any info on a trade-up program on the website.

It doesn't hurt to ask, does it?

2x Freezone Elites, Asetek LCLC-240, SoDimm

You might want to drop him a PM as he has two Elites for sale for much less than they retail for.
