Default Voltage regulator block (Thermal tape or thermal counpound?)

Hi!

I recently buyed a voltage regulator block and it come with a thermal tape that seem cheap (from koolance).

Do you have any idea to do the heat transfer that is (for sure!) non-conductive?

Any good solution? Or I should stay with the thermal pad because or the irregularity of the surface?

NB: I don't want something permanent!

I would recommend using thermal compound seeing as i've used it for all voltage regulator blocks that i have ever used in circuitry (8086 and 80386 computer systems)

I'd stick with the tape - lots of motherboards have irregular surfaces across the voltage regulators, and even the tape will easily keep temperatures down with the waterblock on top.

Actually, every motherboard that I've removed the PWM heatsinks from seemed to use some kind of tape. If the sinks are individual, and have a screw or bolt to hold them, then paste is great. But when you're dealing with SMT components, and laying a waterblock across multiple units, it's easy to get uneven pressure on different parts. Thermal tape is a lot more forgiving that way.

Alright.

Any good thermal tape that I could get?
Looking around the web, I found Sekisui thermal tape, but it seem really tin, witch will not be suitable for my need.

A 1 mm thermal tape will be perfect, any idea?

Neither!

Use thermal pads, it will compensate for the curvature and unevenness of any of the components.

Paste will work as well if you put huge blops, but it will be very messy.
Dont use tape, it will stick real well and when removing the block/heatsink you might just take of a MOSFET.
