Use isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol, preferably 99%. Available at most drugstores.

Ah, you know what... I think the marks I had determined to be residue are just scratches left by the bag it was in (probably made during transportation). I feel pretty dumb.

Doen't look that bad IMHO and have read too that after polishing temps went up. I would just wipe it with microfiber cloth...
