Post Q&A on Feser Liquids

I'm getting questions about Feser liquids, so I decided to summarize them (after checking with Feser). Hopefully it will be useful, for those who are interested.

1. Feser One UV coolant.

DON'Ts:
  • Do not add any biocide (like PT Nuke) because it already has biocide in it and you will get chemical reaction;
  • Do not add any other manufacturer fluid - outcome can't be predicted;
  • Do not mix Feser Fluids of different colors they will react.

DOs:
  • It is OK to add the SAME color of Feser dye to refresh color and UV properties;
  • It's OK to add Feser Heat Carrier to improve performance.

2. Feser Dye

DON'Ts:
  • Same deal. Do not mix colors.

DOs:
  • Ok to add to Distilled water WITHOUT other addictives;
  • Ok to add to Feser One Fluid of teh SAME color.

3. Heat Carrier

DO's:
  • Can be used as colling fluid on it's owm (i.e heat carrier only)
  • Can be added to Feser Fluid to improve performace
  • Can be added to distilled water to improve performance

4. Corrosion blocker

DON'Ts:
  • Do not add to Feser One as it already has it

DOs:
  • Add to distilled water

Thats the only Part I Disagree with. Water in its purest Form has one of the best Heat Conductive Properties. The more additives you throw into the Mix , the more you lose on thermal transfer properties. That is 42% (approx) EthlyneGlycol , which is only going to do two things. Lower the Freezing Point of the water, and Raise the Boiling Point of the water. And do so with a Known Toxic substance. I am very shocked that they don't use PropolyneGlycol instead.

Otherwise, very useful Information you posted Dazmode.

Regards,
ST

Heh, for the most part, these guidelines tend to apply to any line of dyes/coolants, really.

For improving performance, I suspect that they're using an active ingredient similar to Water Wetter (except one that doesn't turn into powder at room temperature). The only problem is that at room temperature, water doesn't have the same issues that it does at near-boiling temperatures, so I'm not sure how much performance is really there to be gained.

Does the corrosion blocker also act as a biocide?
Hard to see how any algae could survive in an antifreeze solution.

Most types of Anti-Freeze will inhibit the growth of things such as Algae.
But, Biocide is also sold seperately because most people don't feel its necessary for Any kind of Anti-freeze in a Cooling Loop.
So long as you don't have two different metals making physical contact with each other, corrosion inhibitors are also dispensiable. Pure Distilled water + Biocide or Silver Coils would be about as far as I would go.

Putting it in Feser's words: Mixing colors is prohibited.

Rinse with distilled water from Shoppers cost 2.99 for 4 liters.

Who they heck buys that crap anyway? All it does is look pretty for a couple weeks and then plugs up everything in your system from blocks to rad. Definitely not worth the hassle. Just distilled and PT Nuke for me. Bad enough I get foggy tygon tubing to deal with...
