Default Swiftech offering free backplate with apogee GT, GTX

I wonder if this will mean that NCIX ships with this backplate now too?

The socket 775 motherboard back plate kit is now available and compatible with all Apogee series Waterblocks. It allows a safe "hard mount" of all Apogee series Waterblocks for an optimum contact patch without excessive bend of the motherboard.

It includes a specially designed back plate compatible with all known socket 775 motherboards at the time of release. Special attention was given to clear all the small components located behind the motherboard, such as those present in the early versions of the EVGA i680 board.

The back plate also features strong sticky pads to prevent it from falling when the Waterblock is removed. Two sets of nylon spacers are included in the pack, one for Apogee, Apogee GT, and one for Apogee GTX.

Effective today, all Apogee series Waterblocks will be shipped with this new back plate and mounting hardware, thus replacing the current spring mounts for socket 775 motherboards.

No need for a CPU backplate on evga's 680i and Gigabyte's P35C. The springs mounts are strong enough. If you have excessive bend, it means your hoses routing is too tight, or badly supported.

FYI, Swiftech also ships with the Ultra+ kit the bracket replacement for the G80 GPU series - no need to buy the kit.

This is great news. The Asus P5K Deluxe I'm using right now bows like heck with my FuZion, and I'm sure it'd be even worse if I had the APOGEE GT/GTX on there...

Yes.

I'm not sure what they had before, but the GT I got last fall had one included.

I read some older reviews the kit included screws and washers only. Some of them found that the block contact was not great so they improvised by adding additional washers to tighten the contact or fashioned a backplate to prevent bending and contact issues. Glad it comes with the backplate-my pk5KE board is easy to bend-looking forward to installing this.
