My System Specs

Default MM Horizon Exhaust Fans Question

I've decided to get the case I've wanted for the past year or so!

The MM U2 UFO Horizon

Do you think there will be a big difference going for a big window panel on top of the case vs. the original top panel which has two 120mm exhaust ports.

I'm going to have the duality front with six fans with 2 360 rads and three fans exhausting, two of which are on a 240 and the third on the rear of the mobo tray. Do you think the extra fans on top would help in getting hot air out of the case?

Here are the different panel options:

Of course, the big window looks better, but I'm also concerned about getting the hot air out of the case.

What are your thoughts?

Good choice! That's pretty much what I'm running right - Horizon w/ Duality front. I'd say your planned setup would probably benefit from having the two exhaust fans up top. The way the Horizon is setup, the two bottom fans aren't well suited to grabbing air, even if they don't have a rad restricting them. Furthermore, any air they do grab, is that much less air that ever reaches the motherboard. If you're going to watercool your chipset, it might not be such a big deal, but with all the power these i7 chips need, plus the NB, there's a pretty serious amount of heat being produced on the motherboard. Having only a single 120mm fan to remove it isn't ideal, imo.

I just bought that case 2nd hand. Its the standard configuration and both radiators are pulling the air in with the two top fans and one back fan exhausting. I tried with just the one at the back exhausting and it wasn't a good idea.

It might be, but having eight fans on intake versus only three on exhaust has the potential to be unbalanced.
