It would be pretty pure but if you use that stuff it will more than likely suck whatever it could out of the tubing (elastiomers, etc.). Good for cleaning your teeth if you don't have a toothbrush handy - lol.

If this stuff was put through the final Process at work, it'd kill you in short order.
But damn is it pure lol!

9 mega-ohms or something like that? I recall my analytics prof saying once that the water is pure immediately after it leaves teh machine but it quickly degrades. Because it is too pure it is like a magnet for anything. What does your company do to require this level of purity? Analytical chemistry probably but wondering what you are testing. Curiosity from a fellow chemist.

Ahhh a fellow Chemist!!!
Used in Analytical Prep Work for ppb Measurment of Inorganics! Usually though an ICP-MS or ICP-OES System.
It can quickly degrade if you leave it exposed to the air. Sealing it up in a closed loop system prevents that.
It also Depends on what stage you extract the water from. All three pics show the different stages.

Its really neat stuff, I had mentioned it in another post, but decided Pictures work better. lol

Cool. I took some analytical chemistry for my undergrad degree but ended up specialising in organic chemistry. Didn't have much chance to play with ultra pure water. Just mucking about in the synthetic lab - lol. What purity of water would be good for a water cooling system? I do not know how pure you could go without harming a cooling system. Perhaps plain jane distilled water?

For the average Person Distilled will be all you ever need to be completely Honest.
For me, I'm going to experiment with closed loop with both Type 1 and Type 3 and see if it hurts anything..

Computer speak...
Parts Per Billion Mesurment on a system that uses Radio Frequency to 'ignite' Argon Gas at 10000 Degrees Kelvin.
Really cool stuff!

So if you did Inorganic, you use GC/MS Systems? or LC/MS?

In the lab we did some AAS experiments (pushing my memory banks here). I did run some GC/MS experiements plus a lot of NMR to identify a compound, I used mass LC mainly to separate compunds for analysis (my thesis involved structurally identifing reactionary intermediates and propose the route of synthesis - for folks on computers this means gobly-gook).

This has peeked my interest, not a chemist by any means. From what I gather from this thread, water at ultra pure levels is somewhat poison and even caustic?
Sorry for the noob questions but google/wikapedia etc turns up a bunch of ads but little info
