Default Not happy with NF-P12's

I recently switched the fans on my rads over to Noctua NF-P12's and I'm not happy at all with them. They have a whine to them like what a car horn several blocks away would sound like. I used the speed reducers to slow them down, currently using a black one (whichever that one is) to feed two fans with a 'Y' splitter. They sound not too bad now but as soon as I put me case sides on there is vibration. My crappy CM case fans don't do that and TBH sound better. The CM's may not be more quiet as a dBm meter would read but the sound signature is much more bearable. I'm not sure what the performance difference is between the two, I'm just starting temp testing now so the Noctua may 'work' better but they're not going to stay given the noise issues.

So that said what other options do I have?

Be interested to hear your results. My own Noctua's are behaving quite nicely on a radiator, and I'm pretty anal-retentive about noise, so I'm not sure what's wrong with yours.

In this case, I'd probably point you towards the Scythe S-Flex fans. The E-series would match closest in rpms, while the F-series would be a little faster (and louder). Great bearings, long-life, and solid radiator performance. Easy to order online, of course, but if you find yourself heading into the GTA, I've noticed that Canada Computers stores have started stocking them as well.

Buy Zalman ZM-F3 120MM Sleeve Bearing Case Fan Black 900/1800RPM 20/34DBA 3PIN Connector Awesome fans. Amazing performance, speed reducers, rubber mounts, all in 1 package for under $6. I use 6 of them, running about 1200RPM and they push alot of air, with little to no motor noise.

I also find that noctuas produce a whining, resonance noise, especially on 12v and if they are close to each other.

So much for vortex control notches ..
