Default Rackmount Water Cooling for servers?

Ok, this is up on NCIX as a new arrival......

NCIX.com - Buy Koolance ERM-3K4U5 3000W 4U Rackmountable Liquid Cooler - Includes 5 Pumps & 3000W Heat Dissipation - ERM-3K4U5 In Canada.

I can't imagine for the life of me any business that would use water cooling on their rack mount servers....

Audio applications maybe??????

I think this caters more to home user servers than commercial servers.

There is ABSOLUTELY no way that a critical server would EVER be watercooled.

Agreed... that's why I'm wondering what the purpose is.....

Home users wouldn't have 5 CPUs to cool (let alone the 20 they suggest are possible), but the risks of WC wouldn't be accepted on a business server.

The only thing I could even come close to thinking of would be a rack server in a recording studio to reduce noise, but then you'd think the rack would be in the control room rather than the audio chamber....

Dunno... it'd be intersting to see if anybody can think of a valid use for this product.

But Hypnotic.

I have no idea where that would be practical.

Umm yea, most high end, really high end servers are water cooled. They are called mainframes. They run this such as AIX, TRU64. They have something called a 'processor engine' that seats and drives the cpus. They are water forced injected for cooling. Also, there is a line of Sun rack servers that has a hole from the top to the bottom. When you stack them all, the air flows right through them all. There is alot more to the IT world than little uniprocessor boxes with support of up to 8 GB of ram. These mainframes? They stomp all over any x86 machine.
