Well, it finally arrived. 3D '06 with a 3.0GHz quad, complete waste of a card, even at 1920x1200 (still need to do a run with AA and AF maxed). 3D V, a completely different story, 1.5 time faster in performance, 2.4 times faster in Extreme. I'll run some more benchmarks when I get a higher OC on my Q6600. Hopefully I've got enough juice to get it to 3.6 at least. Probably fire up CoD4 right now and see how it runs. ( I fudged up my numbers orignally, I used scores from when I was running a P5B Deluxe for CF, not the P5Q Deluxe )

In case anybody wants to know, I'm using an Antec Truepower Trio 650W.

CoD4 is running at about 90fps with everything maxed @ 1920x1200 and it drops down to about 70 in heavy action. Certianly an improvement over the HD3870's

That card is good, but you know us system builders always have complains, like I have one stupid one lol. I was hoping they put both PCI-E connectors next to each other for cable management, both are apart, and it even looks weird.

A lack of real estate on the board, they're at either side of the fan shroud.

Na I understand, it just wasn't possible, I'm sure they thought of it when designing the pcb/card, sometimes you have to sacrifice for an outstanding card!!.

2 week update!

If you need to disable CF for old games, like Ravenshield or Desert Combat, just disable Catalyst AI, as with 2 seperate cards, one core gets disabled.

Scary moment last night. I decided to fire up Bioshock, and it went to artifact city, then locked solid. I rebooted, confirmed my CCC settings, fired up Bioshock again. Same thing. So I rebooted, checked my CCC settings and fired up the Crysis demo, which I know works, artifacts, LOCKS. WTFH!!!!!!!!! Reboot, check CCC settings yet again, fire up Crysis, and as it starts to artifact, I alt-tab back to windows and open the CCC, to find at Overdrive has been enabled and has upped my freaking clocks!!. Now I had played with the auto tune a couple days before, but it HAD been disabled afterwards, and it certianly hadn't been enabled when I started Crysis, the only profile I have saved is from BF42 on my 3870's, and it certianly didn't use an OC. More CCC weirdness it would seem.

I had the same issue with my pair of 4870x2's. I tried turning them up to 800 core through CCC overdrive and everything started artifacting. I eventually had to wipe the drivers out and start fresh but its now running smooth as butter.

It looks like you need a new CPU. You're being bottlenecked...

With dual 4850 cards in CF, I broke past 15000 points in Vantage Peformance. I can't see why with dual 4870 GPUs you don't blow past this.
