"Looking a bit closer at the HD4870 X2 we can see that what has been done is to take a pair of cores from standard HD4870 cards, pair up each with 1GB of GDDR5 memory and stick the whole kitten caboodle onto one PCB."

I think you mean kit and caboodle. But kitten caboodle does have a nice ring to it and who hasn't thought of the red team as young felines. Always leaving the hardware (mice and birds) at the door step but never finishing them off (drivers).

Dont Fear to push card 850MHz on core or 900MHz for 4870 and x2 .

VR-Zone have do a Very great review with a XFX GTX 280 at 735/1575/1325 if you can do the same for compare with the others card this will be great.

Cool, another night release :)

The HD4850 X2 sounds great. If priced at $400, it may be the new ultimate card to get.

It's too bad you didnt have the GX2 to compare.

Thanks for the nice and in dept review SKYMTL.
The HD4870x2 is one beast of a card. it tears apart everything at high resolutions.

No need to apologize, we all understand just fine. You actually write better than some English speakers we have had around here.

As for the 4.5Ghz, I really don't know about that. Right now I am on Air which will make temperatures a real concern. Right now DDR3 isn't an option until e switch to Nehalem for the test platform since I love my DDR2 @ tight timings.

I have one. I didn't use it since it is an EOL card and while you can still buy it performance is nealy identical to a GTX 280.
