Default 8800 GTX poor FPS

Ok, I went and sold my condo and bought the 8800 GTX. I am not totally disappointed as it runs my games a lot better then my X800 GTO2 but truthfully I was expecting it to kick the shit out of what I was getting with my X800. FarCry for instance runs a lot better/smoother getting around 80/110 FPS, COD2 I get only 35/40/50/maybe 60. Half Life DOD S I am getting roughly the same 30/40/50/60 depending what angle I face.

I need some feed back from some of you guys out there who are running an 8800. What FPS are you getting running these game in particular?

I know I did to do a format reinstall in the worst way I will get on to my back ups then do a reinstall.

Anyway I will keep searching for answers. BTW Have any of you guys seen this? Legit Reviews - GeForce 8800 GTX Resistor Change in Pictures - One Resistor Value Change Made the 8800 GTX Work I'm not sure (as I need a magnifying glass) but I think my card has the shitty resistor.

Thanks
Corpus

What resolution are you running your games at?

The 8800GTX is CPU dependant.

The different resistor issue was in the pre-production batches which was small so unless you got a review sample chances are your 8800GTX is fine. Only sure way is to check if your 8800GTX has the wrong resistor based on the link you posted.

Do you run a 8800 GTX or GTS? If so what kind of FPS are you getting from the games mentioned? If you have them that is.

I'd guess you're CPU bottlenecked. I'll check my COD2 fps in a bit here.

That videocard is horribly bottlenecked by that CPU. You would need a Core 2 Duo running over 3GHz to ease it at all. An 8800 GTX is too much for your older system. If you are gonna stick with your AMD setup, you need to overclock it as far as possible to help. If you can get it to 2.9-3GHz it will help, but any way you look at it, it will always be bottlenecked in an AMD system.
