This function is to take advantage of multiple core CPUs on multi threaded 3D apps/games. You want to keep it off if you have a single core or running older applications/games and on for newer multi threaded games - this helps the driver take advantage of multi cores. If it bluescreens on a specific game then turn it off, or if you don't have at least a dual core, leave it off or auto. now if you're getting higher FPS, could be taking advantage of your HT :) To play it safe you can leave it to AUTO - if it still causes problems with some games then turn it off.
