Threaded Optimization - Enable/Disable/Auto? What is your guys opinion? I seem to get a lot more FPS when I set it to enabled instead of auto; but sometimes, in some games it'll cause me to blue screen. What exactly is it doing? Does anyone know if there is a way to ensure that it won't bluescreen? Or should I leave it on auto? Heh, I'd really like the added FPS! |
This function is to take advantage of multiple core CPUs on multi threaded 3D apps/games. You want to keep it off if you have a single core or running older applications/games and on for newer multi threaded games - this helps the driver take advantage of multi cores. If it bluescreens on a specific game then turn it off, or if you don't have at least a dual core, leave it off or auto. now if you're getting higher FPS, could be taking advantage of your HT :) To play it safe you can leave it to AUTO - if it still causes problems with some games then turn it off. |
I am using the Q6600 system below so I can definitely take advantage of it; I'll run it again and see if I BSOD in Age of Conan (which does apparently support it). |
