Default looking to upgrade, need some in put

hi im looking to upgrade from my HD3850 256mb graphics card, and i was wondering what would be a good upgrade a 4850 or a 4870? i plan to run 1400x900 res. which would be the better choice? is the extra $100 really worth it?

What are you using the graphics card for? Games? Or just for other things?

With such a low res I think the HD4870 would be pretty wasteful. Moving from a HD3850 to HD4850 isn't going to be a massive step but I think it would yield a fair improvement.

Have you considered just overclocking your HD3850 and maybe put on some aftermarket cooling?
